Please help a desperate newb!!!!

I'm in Walla Walla, there are only a couple yards here and neither of them have anything.

If I found the front 4wd gear out of a similar year ranger/explorer would I still need to change the gear ratios or would it work fine with my factory B2 rear?

I am in Yakima.
The front and rear ratios have to be the same, when you are in 4 wheel drive, low or high range, you can't have a push or pull affect from miss matched gearing.
I just did a Craigslist for Lewiston and Moses Lake, looking for Explorers. 1 listed in Lewiston for $500 with deer damage, (grill radiator not run 97000?) 1 in Moses lake $350, need transmission work, (automatic) 100000+?.
These are the type you are looking for.
I have a TK5 w/ 1350 complete, clutch, clutch master cylinder and slave with the pedal assembly, 2 fly wheels and bolts, starter, front drive line, front axle (Dana 28, 3.45 ratio), pretty much everything to do the conversion. It is all stock stuff that came out of my 86 B2. PM me with a phone # and we'll talk, if you are interested.

Actually, I used the later model slave when I did my swap. The master cylinders themselves are actually the same, the difference is the line going to the slave, which is removable. What you do is remove the master from the vehicle, punch out the roll pin that holds the lower line in place, and pull. make sure the seal on the end comes out because if you try to double seal the line won't fit. Once you put it back in, replace the pin, and you are good to go. I would go with the later model just because they have the fancy quick connect fittings that don't generally need bleeding just because they are disconnected.

I was only trying to keep it simple, but yes, if you were to replace the line, you can use a later slave on an earlier MC, but if he's already buying a new slave, why not just get the right one? (and FWIW, the fitting on my '90 also seals itself when disconnected. Not sure the exact years but I seem to recall from somewhere there was a changeover between what my '90 has, and the one on my '94 Ranger).
