pics of 1990 4.0

I agree, Dirttracker ur engine is clean. Mine a bit on the dirty side, but living on the roads I do, its kinda hard to keep clean. I guess it shows the diff between a 90 and 94, cause my powerblock and solenoid are on the drivers side, I left the battery on the passenger side and put in the ranger overflow and wiper fluid. I need to have my engine cleaned, how do u clean urs?

purple power i swear by it i use it on lawnmowers, quads, bikes, engines, etc. it works really good if you let it sit for a couple of minunts and then use a pressure washer,my friend doesent have a pressure washer so he does it at the car wash.

ok for the wiriring.
1.the smaller red wire goes in front of the battery and then heads up to the positive terminal

2.ground wire goes to frame

3. red - goes down into harness and i loose it (i cant find it by tracing so it might)

4.blue-

5. green- yes it comes up with the main battery cable but doesent connect to the terminal it goes to the solinoid

this might/will help you allot i've used this site allot

trust me you can do it im 16 and i replaced a 302 carborated to a 302 fuel inj. and thats a pain with the wiring it isnt too bad if you sit down and kindove study it. it took me a while but i got the good old chlimers (or however you spell that) and i got a harness out of a wrecked mustang. the first time will take well.. more time than the 2nd, 3nd and so on i say get a good diagram and go from there

Oh God, my 2.9 looks like BP puked on it. When I got it, the valve covers weren't tightened down at all and it was slowly leaking dino-juice over everthing. The AC compressor had puked all it's oil over everything it could find. That stuff is nasty. I took a putty knife and cleaned all I could off, tightened the valve cover bolts (after I freaking bought the good gaskets) and power washed it a couple of times (nice to have your own). It's getting better, but it will be three more rounds with gunk engine de-greaser before it's moderately acceptible. Sorry for the thread jack.

dirttrackracer we should meet up sometime id like to see ur ranger and i think ill have my running by sunday night

Glad Dirttracker could get you pic'd up. they didn't have much at the Pull-A-Part that gives you the clarity that Dirttracker has posted.

Then you should both come help me with mine.

purple power every other month and everytime i wash the truck wash/rinse the engine bay and underneath

You think this would work on a 1st Gen? My Electrical connectors are the old style, they don't have any weather seal other than dielectric grease(if that). Would that degreaser hurt my wiring?

Also do you cover the Alternator/Battery/Distributor when you do the clean job?

never have.... never will, and i have degreased my engine bay in my 78'f150 with those connectors the only thing is not to get carried away and try not to spray it directly on them as long as you are just like misting and power washing you will be fine
