Sorry about the crude pic but it gives u the idea.I have a scout top(all metal)and once I put a tail gate and bed sides.I just want some feedback from as many people to help me decide..thanks guys
 
i'd leave the roof over the driver and passenger seats then hack the rest off and use the scout top. just my .02
 
do a roll cage thats what im going to do hrew tube is like 35 a length and a chitty harbor frienght pump jack bender is 50 just gusset it good
 
I am going to do a full roll cage and the big decision is do I
1.Leave the top alone
2.Cut half off
3.cut it all off
 
If your going to do it do it all if not its just a short ranger. It would be one of a kind.
 
i say chop the back off. when people cage "scouts" it always looks completley stupid cuz they just make a box, might as well keep the top and make an internal cage (just my 2cents)

unless you are gonna do a cage like this and put a canvas top over the driver.

i like... thats kinda how i plan to do mine in the future, but i am going to keep and reinforce the top and weld some angle iron to the bottom and but bolt holes in so i can take the top on or off as i please. but ill use ranger bedrails.
 
Looks like he may have cut down a full size top on this one....wish i had a pic with the top on

I gutted my BII tonight and I will be cutting the top tomorrow and setting up the cage.I am going to back half the BII for now and see if I like it if not it will all come off later. thank you for all of your opinions .

If you haven't cut yet, my suggestion for trimming the roof is to mark out a straight line right along the support bracket behind the seats an cut using a circular saw with a metal cutting blade, it's about the best way to get a fairly straight cut that I know of.

You'll also find that the roof braces are not attached to the roof. I'd weld or rivit them to the roof piece, it does make a significant difference in stiffening things up, or at least it did in mine.
