I think, if anyhting, they should update powertrain options and continue production of the current ranger. It is a good size, fairly safe, everyone is familiar with it, and they can definitely handle v8 power and with a 300 plus hp small block in a ranger stock theyd sell the crap out of them.

It's not so much that i want them to continue making the ranger. The overseas ranger is more so a sporttrac if anything. It's more that ford needs to venture off into the small 4 and 6 cylinder diesel engines. People are going apeshit over the 23 mpg in the Eco boost f150. Well the turbo diesel in the over seas ranger can get 60+ then why are people not pushing for it come here?

Because after the EPA gets thru with it running on US fuel it won't dream of 60mpg.

Can I buy one of those engines, have it shipped to the US and put it in my Ranger myself? Or is it illegal? Would it pass emissions in our less than 25 year old Rangers?
