Passenger Door Wont Unlock From Outside

My driver door opens just fine with the key. On the passenger door it will turn like 2 millimeters. It feels like something is jammed. But the door opens just fine from the inside. I'm guessing i need to take the door panel apart and see if something is jammed? I'm only 17 and this is my first truck. I dont really know that much about trucks.

try to spray some rust cleaner or lubricant to the key hole if that doesn't help then u might have to take out the door panel, it's better if u take the truck to some shop to do this, cuz if u dont know that much about trucks, then u will not know what to touch lol! or even woest u could damage something there, so u better take it to the pros, and watch what they do, so next time u do it yourself

Well, if you have the money to let someone else do it...certainly...I'd suggest going to the junkyard, taking one apart there, and seeing how it fits together...then you can do it yourself and, if need be, change the locks...you can pick up a key in most vehicles (that I've seen) and take the two door locks if you can't fix the one you have...

On one truck I had mismatched the locks and just carried around two keys...that got old fast so I went back, got a set of door locks and the key and swapped them both out...works fine now...

I took the door panel off. It's the cylinder thats locked. All of the rods and everything move fine except the one connected to the cylinder.

did you try some graphite in the lock? Apparently that works better than WD-40 or others...and you can probably pick some up at a hardware store...

I concur with Mark_88 on this. Both of the locks in the '97 I just picked up we're not functioning and acting just as you described. I used some graphite I use to lube bicycle shifter cables and it worked like a charm. As a bonus, it helps in keeping them from freezing in the winter for those is cold enough climates.

CAREFUL! if you have already tried one don't try the other. powder graphite mixed with wd40 is only going to give you a lock full of sludge.

That may be true...never mixed them myself...the paste it creates might be an interesting 'creation' that has other uses though...
