Trying to get my LSD set up, and running into a weird discrepancy in part numbers.

Want to go with the traclok carbon fiber clutches, ford performance part M-4700-C. Seems they're nearly universally out of stock.

Came across a different clutch kit, 6L1Z-4947-B. From the photos, it appears to be carbon fiber clutch discs, but unsure. Anyone have the ability to check and see if they're the same clutches?

NEVER go by the photos. In my experience, it hardly works. They could just be stock photos to look similar to actual product

From what know...

No, that’s the replacement kit for the Cobra (and Explorer) when the owner complains of clutch chatter.

How much overall difference in clamping force vs the m-4700-c kit?

Interested in it due to cost; the replacement kit is 1/3 the price of the Ford performance kit.

For what you’re using it for... you’ll get a few years out of a basically stock rebuilt clutch pack.

Well, ordered the 6L1Z-4947-B kit. Figured it gave me a hybrid clutch pack kit for under $50, versus the carbon fiber kit at over $130.

Will update once installed.

Would you still be interested in the kit? I have one in the garage I could sell for a reasonable price. I picked up a torsen to use instead.

I'm not up on everything, but if you rearrange the clutches the stock parts work better arranged with logic instead of the factory orientation and jam is much in there as you can, but I've never used anything but the best of my junkyard stash of clutch parts... There is a difference somewhere along the way of the tabs on the frictions changing length, the newer ones have shorter tabs but to get the best of what I had on hand I just ground the longer ones down to fit :).

I have 40k miles on that method in a V8 Explorer with 31" tires and it sees sand dune use here and there... in 2wd it still spins both rear tires when you get on it... and as I just remembered it's like a quart low on oil like it has been for that whole 40k miles...
