what works as far as painting over a chrome surface??. I wanna do the side mirrors and bumper. I figured sanding with a few different grits and a good primer to prep the surface should be fine. Then I will black em out. But i dont want it to chip or scratch and look like sh*t when I go to powerwash and clean the truck later on.

the bumper is going to be hard, its such a big surface, you might want to find a used painted one, and paint it to match your truck... but if you sand the crap out of it, and use a self etching primer, it might work, for a while atleast.

it may be quicker to get the bumper sandblasted then use a good quality primer on it.
i've used this method on some old chrome wheels about a year and a half ago and they haven't peeled yet.. good luck

i would ether sand blast it or bead blast it it should rough up the surface enough to make a good primer stick.

don't do any prep work; have it powder coated and never have to worry about it peeling when you wash it
