Painting bed cap

OMG! I got ambitious last night and finished the primer this morning I rubbed down one side with 600, wiped off the dust, and shot some mocha frost on it, you can't tell because of the angle of the sunlight but I'm impressed!I think it's going to look as good as the truck!

today was the first day the humidity was actually bearable for me it's a beech being heat intolerant, anyhow looks pretty good! Top is still blotchy needs more paint before I hit it with clear coat.

top isn't black it's the shadow from the canopy

Very nice job!

Thank you! it's far from perfect and some of the white undercoat actually shows a little bit but I'm not going to lose sleep over it, compared it to being red, it's great!

That turned out great.

Oh... Crap! Anybody want to buy a cap? It's 1 inch too long! Definitely a high-rise model oh well I can live with it it's not what I wanted actually but I got it cheap! I guess we can move the bed back and ensure so when we take it off to do the frame reinforcements.

measure twice, paint once. (just pickin' on you :D )

Should be close enough to work fine.

It just bothers me that I overlooked that one inch, that's not like me at all when I measure things

The truck has a trailer hitch, but what two wires on the tail light are the brake light? I have to connect the brake light in the cap.

Well I have the cap clamped down with weatherstripping underneath still not happy with the fit overall but I'm going to live with it until the opportunity for a better fitting cap comes along and I can sell this one or trade it for something else,.

Some of you may know that I'm into wooden canoes.

I need to devise a way to carry my " precious cargo"
I've had Yakima and Yakima accessories for all my vehicles for many many years and I have bit of a hardware from them. Pictures show what I've come up with so far it, just means the canoes will be down in the front, not a bad thing driving down the road the big decision is; do I want to drill holes in the roof of the truck? 1994 truck certainly is not a collector car and I don't think it's going to matter if I ever do get rid of it.
I do have a couple Q Clips I think they're called, and they fit above the door behind the weather strip but the weather strip has to be removed for them to hold onto the roof.

Thoughts appreciated!

Well, the Beast is in front of the house looks okay the cap bothers me because I made a mistake of measuring wrong so it overhangs the back of the tailgate by over an inch other than that doesn't look too bad
