Paint or not to Paint The Ranger

Well the only thing to level the truck out would probably be to put lift blocks under the rear to match it with the front or get lowering coils for the front.

I do have lift blocks on the rear. The same for the front. So why is the front sits higher than the rear does. Is it because the new lift blocks is on top of the front stock rubber bushings is that why the front sits high.

Wait I thought you didn't touch the suspension? Argh I'm confused. Where is this rubber bushing you are talking about? cause I don't remember seeing any rubber parts under or over my trucks springs...?:icon_confused:

Could you get a picture or two of the front lift block and stuff?:icon_thumby:

Orig_Ranger84,

What I'm talking about is you have rubber bushings on your body of your truck on top & under your frame. So when you do a body lift on your truck thats where the lift blocks goes. I have to look at the rear where they put the blocks at. So the new blocks is sitting on the stock rubber bushings so having a 3" lift on the front I think it made it 4" instead of 3". The rear looks fine because of leaf springs on the back. Thats what support your rearend .
Orig_Ranger84 does this help you to figure out what I'm talking about & need help with with lowering my frontend 1inch or 1" & a half with maybe with coil springs.

Wait so your talking about the body mount rubber bushings? Those are stock and if you didn't put a body lift on and removed those your cab would look funny and the body line would be off because the cab would be sitting 1" lower then your bed and it would just look weird. So its still a 3" lift on the front just because those rubber bushings are supposed to be here. They are meant to soften cab vibrations from the engine, wheels ect...

Yeah to lower your front end you need like drop coils fro the front. or maybe like a little lift in the back. I see drop coils for the front or a chevy shackel swap in the back. either one will probably level you out.

Thanks Orig_Ranger84,

Sorry if i got you confused on what i was trying to ask you & others. So where do i can get drop coils & what size should i get to lower the front by 1" & can i get a ford shackel swap for the rear & why a chevy shackel swap for my truck . what does a chevy shackel do for a ford ranger & not a ford part or another manufactuar swap shackels. Would Summit Racing have a shackel swap for the ford rangers of my year. If Summit don't carry them who would have a shackel swap for the rangers of my truck year.

To drop front, I think you need to remove front springs and cut a coil out. I think this is the max B4 U need to replace ibeams with Dreambeams.

To drop rear, U need flipkit to put rearend on top of springs, and/or reverse hangers.

Not sure: U need to doublecheck this info.

Coyote,

Well yes I think I'm going to do drop coils in the front not sure if I'm going to do 1" drop or a 2" drop. I measure the top of my tire to under the wheel well is 3" & I measure the rear & my rearend is under 3" like 2" & something so my rearend is lower than the front. When I put on my lift kit for the front & rear didn't realize that it would screw up my front bumper like it's not at the right under the lights under the the grille. So now i have the gap & don't like it & now I'm thinking doing a 2" coil drop cause i have a little play but don't want my front tires rub either or just a 1" drop coil would be fine too so maybe it will match up with the rearend. Or do i need to raise up the rear too so when I drop the front it will match between the wheel well's.

Cutting coils is about the stupidest thing you can possibly do... it weakens the springs, and their structural integrety.

Well the reason I suggest the chevy shackles is because others have found that a certain chevy shackle don't remember which one but it fits perfectly in the place of the ford ranger shackle and its longer so it gives you about 2" of lift in the rear. Its better because its a stock chevy part thats cheap and fits good, there is no need to go spend like 3 times as much for the same thing that just says Ford on it or some other manufacturer. Why do you want a FOrd specific shackle?

Ok nevermind its called a Belltech6400 shackle heres the tech page. (Approx 2" of lift)

Heres the chevy leaf spring swap. (approx 3" of lift)

Thanks Org_Ranger84,

Thanks for your help. If I do a 1" lower coil on the front would I then need to raise up the rear too so the front & rear is square.

I'd say drop the front 1" and raise the rear 2" and I bet you will sit about even, or atleast have the rake in the right direction. lol

Hello Original_Ranger84,

Sorry that I havn't respond back but wanted to make sure that what was wrong with the Rearend. It turns out it is my leaf springs going bad & twisting so thats why the front is higher than the back. I orderd the new leaf springs & they are in so next week they will get put on the truck. Also getting my shifter a lined out too. Was having trouble putting it in drive it would go into 2nd gear. Thats been done & now the tranny place is also going to move my shifter up half inch to a inch forword so my bench seat can be moved up a little more for me to reach the gas pedal a little more for my short legs. If that is not enough then going to buy gas pedal what little have so they can reach the pedals to drive there cars or trucks. Hope i don't have to buy one they are a little pricey. Thought i let you know what was happening with the truck.

Jimmy

Hello Orig_Ranger84

Well I got the truck back from the tranny shop & I like what they did to my shifter they moved it up some & it has help me to be a little closer to the gas pedal. But he also told Me & My Dad that I have a Heater Core going out & he is right last night driving it home it fog up the window bad. Got some prices on a replacement one not bad on price but he said labor will be high. He also found a Exhaust leak on the driver or passanger side so he is going to fix both of them problems next week along with putting the new leaf springs on too by someone else. Didn't know that the heater core was going out it just at a bad time with putting new leaf springs on & getting the shifter done & he did fix my leak with my oil relocation kit. Still going to have the brakes & lines check to makesure they are ok for this summer cruiseing & shows here at the lake of the ozarks, missouri.
