Does anybody know what a good paint job would roughly cost on a 2000 single cab?

Even though my '99 is an extended cab, I got a new paintjob (same color) priced at around $1500.

Define a "good" paintjob. You get what you pay for.

Ditto. It all depends on the overall work. Do you want a factory redo? Custom? It all depends. You can go with a reputable shop that uses the top line products or go the Maaco way. Ask some of the clubs in your area who did their vehicles. You do get what you pay for. If you want a good looking paint job look to spend $1,200 and up. Also, what are you going to use the truck for? If it's an off roader don't spend a lot cause of the possible abuse. I had mine done in 1999 using only PPG products. It was $1,500 back then. Get opinions from people. Don't just trust a shop by what they say. Ask what brands they use. Do they have a good booth and few return work. And be sure once you have it done show it off here!

2 sides to this discussion, a friend of mine owns a body shop, He does top quality work with the best materials, he finished a 68 camero 6 months ago where he stripped every nut and bolt, stripped the old paint chemicaly and re painded the car it took 4 months and cost $42000 not $4,200 but $42,000. He also painted a Jeep I used to have for offroad use only and it cost $1,100. The Jeep is now in the scrap yard and the camero sold for 168,000 at a auction 6 weeks ago. do your homework, find out what you want out of your paint job, and find a good shop with good materials and good booth
