P.S. 35 Axle Question

maybe it was the front driveshaft that was keyed....aww i dont remember.

now that youve taken the axle apart, make sure you put it back together with the u-joints in phase.

Woah, now i hope I understand this one correctly, in phase as in the same lineup with the U-joint at the slip joint and the u-joint at the knuckle?

note the position of the u-joint ears. top shaft is "in phase" bottom is not.

So the ears on both ends (Diff side and Knuckle side) should look the same? Diff shaft ujoint ear on top and bottom (of course)other side of ujoint to the slip coupling facing Horizontal, then the axle shaft from the slip coupling to the knuckle should ALSO be top\Bottom and the hub back to the u-joint facing horizontal?

I'm sorry to bug you on this, but I will be putting the axle in tomorrow after i get the seal for it.

its easier for me to show pictures than it is to describe...heres another in phase shaft:

you want both the ears that are connected to the shaft to be facing the same way.

Also, check the needle bearing inside of the spindle. The axle shaft runs on it, and if it got bend or out of alignment somehow, it might cause what you're describing.

I will double check the needle bearing, looked ok when I checked it. Made sure it was still functional and apllied just a dab of grease on it.

I appreciate the picture, I tried to draw my own with the key board. Where you get those photo from?

ya drawing pictures with dashes and slashes doesnt work well as the forums automatically word wrap...so everything is lined up different depending on what other people have as a screen resolution.

i found those pics on google image search by typing in "u-joint phase".
