Over heating

the only engine temp gauge i ever truly trusted was my oil temp gauge on my 72 beetle, and the sending unit was on the tip of the dipstick and being air/oil cooled engine temp was a mighty handy way to check on the engine and how it was running.

Yeah I have seen those my cousin has a 73 bug and boy are they fun to work on.

OK bonehead move I was reading the tech section and read the part about installing the thermostat with the air relief hole on the top. I could not remember how I installed it so I took it off and sure enough it was on the wrong way. I also got a new radiator cause the old one appeared to have trace leaking going on. I will let you guys know if that was the problem. Well I guess I wont know cause I am also switching the radiator . But I hope it fixes the problem.
