I love oven cleaner. When I was swaping out engines in my truck I used it to clean everything it was a awesome degreaser and cleaned my alunimum parts really well. 2 cans was all it took to degrease my engine bay. I swear by the stuff but don't get it in a cut it hurts bad.

Yea oven cleaner works as good if not better then engine degreaser and is much cheaper. You can find the cheap stuff around a buck. Buts its pretty hard on your lungs. You better have good ventilation when using it.

It'll remove paint too so dont get it on valve covers like i did

Just be careful when using it since it is corrosive to some parts in the engine bay..electrical for instance and plastic connectors. Years ago one of my Hot Rod mags wrote about using it. Hard on the lungs, and hard on wiring in the engine compartment they said. They noticed that some of the electrical parts got ruined after they got a couple of cars back on the road after they used the oven cleaner. lol You got to learn as you go. They learned to cover the electrics and wrap them better the next time they used over cleaner...lol

I use oven cleaner on my chrome exhaust (1985 Honda CB650SC) ONLY-

I've never used oven cleaner, but have had some good luck with regular GoJo (not the type with pumice in it) and a small plastic-bristled brush. Mag wheel cleaner also works wonders on aluminum parts, to "brighten" them up. Both require a good rinsing, of course, when done.
