trying to install the Audiovox CCS-100 cruise control on my 1983 Ranger 2.8, 5 spd man. doesn't want to hold the set speed. keeps gradually dropping to 45 mph then staying there. any thoughts? trying to get through on the Audiovox help number takes forever on hold! :annoyed:

i really haven't seen any posts about this cc on a 1st gen (carb'd) ranger. thanks.

you dont mean the normal doing 50 and it drop to 45 do you? last i checked all cruise controls done that

Is this cruise vacuum-operated or electronic? If it's vacuum, sounds like you might be running out of vacuum.

been double checking all the vac lines i can find. the po did a dizzy swap and i'm not real sure if it is the duraspark or not. gonna try to match the pics in the tech forum to what i have and find out. i do know there are lots of wires that have been cut , sensors unplugged, and lots of vac lines plugged off. it does run really good except for the bad valve seals sending blue smoke out the pipe. only about a quart of oil every 350-400 miles or so.

Does the cruise have its own dedicated vacuum reservoir? If not, adding one might fix it.

got it back already!! seems the instructions about the settings is incorrect when it comes to the 1st gen rangers. 2 of the switches were set to the right number according to the manual, but were actually wrong according to the tech support for the cc. glad it's done. hopefully i'll be getting a couple more mpg's on my trips now. :D

Glad to hear that you got it sorted out.
