Why mention a 289? And say there is a provision for a dipstick? The whole discription is messed up.

I guess you failed to remember that Summit Racing is primarily a Chebby oriented company. They DO have the Ford parts you want, but only if you already know what it is you're looking for, and many times already have a part number to work with.

I need to know where to get the black part (and maybe a dipstick/tube too) and how high to mount it from the bottom of the pan.

My "black piece" actually has a Ford part # embossed onto it. On the inside of the oil pan! I didn't write it down before I assembled what you're looking at in the pic, and ain't about to drop the pan just for that, NOW! It was on a rear sump pan out of an '83 Econoline. I scavenged the dip stick, too. Go to your local Ford Dealership (Parts Dept.) and inquire.

That "Black" piece is a casting with the number of D8OE 6751 (something, under the rivet). Got a new, clean pan on the parts shelf. Rock Auto has a new pan like you want for $89. Buy a new one, go JY hunting or try and fab one up.

That was the first thing I have ever ordered from them.

I will have to check it out at the local dealership and see if I can get that little peice.

I sure wouldn't think about looking for just that little black piece. Probably not made in 26 years and then it was part of an assembly, riveted into the pan. Doing a V-8 is not cheap or easy at times, just suck it up and go yarding or spend the bucks and buy one!

Good luck findin the (stick in the pan) dual sump pan in a junkyard. Money's better spent buying a new one at a parts house. And using the time, sweat and gas saved on something else.

It's funny, those things seem to be rare, but my bro and I have 2 or 3 302 versions, (one is on his Rx-7) and a 351 version of that same pan. Wierd.

I tried looking thru a local yard here, spent 2-3 hours and came up with squat. Figured it was easier to just buy a new one.. ...............Only one I've run across was on a 5.0 that the owner wanted $200 for. Ain't paying that kind of money for an early 80's 5.0.
