I have been having some idle problems and some power loss issues with my BII. It's been sitting for 2-3 years so the gas is pretty old. I want to blame the problems on the old fuel, it's got a little less than a quarter tank. My plan is to fill it up with a fresh gas and a bottle of injector cleaner. Will this be enough or am I going to need to turn some wrenches to get it running well again? I have probably driven it 10 miles or so on the old gas. IDK, I guess am asking what does old fuel do to your engine? :icon_confused: oh, it's also throwing a CE light.

gas is only good for like 60 days.... and if the truck has been sitting that long you need to change allllll fluids. and i would just fill the tank with some new gas it should be fine. it will burn out the old stuff.

new fuel filter

Hard to say...2 year old gas in my F150 turned into crusty sludge and clogged the pump.

Then again, I had gas sitting for about 6 years in my Probe and it fired right up. The gas didn't even smell bad. I think it had something to do with having a completely full tank when parked.

New fuel filter, 1/4 tank of fuel, bottle of BG 244K. Yes, this BG 244K concentration is stronger than normal, but in your case, it should be done this way. These three things run through your engine should clear out the fuel supply system. Then run a full tank and a water remover through the system.
Changing all oils /fluids is also a good idea. Change lubricants now, coolant flush after running it a while, to circulate / dissolve any rust in that system.

Old gas breaks down into varnish and will clog the system
