Old gas disposal

i would strain it into containers and use it slowly in another car or truck like already mentioned. dilute it and use it over time, and dont be afraid to add a bottle or two of fuel system treatment to the old gas.

i know its a little off topic, but i have always heard to dump antifreeze in the toilet. apparently the waste treatment plant can handle it just fine. any old oil or atf or the like goes into 5 gallon buckets. usually i would take it to autozone to be recycled, but i think we are going to me building a small oil burner to heat the garage in the winter. for now, the oil is stacking up in buckets.

Keep in mind that used oil has a lot of heavy metals in it. I wouldn't want to breathe that exhaust if I were you.

Though "recycled" oil is often used as "bunker fuel" in large ships and is therefore burned anyway. But at least it's further from your lungs.

"A little at a time" is 2-3gallons to a full tank of gas.

I had some really nasty old stuff that wasn't even that good (10year old gas)
That I mixed 1gallon of it into two gallons of waste oil and then added it to the 130gallons of home heating oil I had delivered.

Oil furnaces are less than "picky" about what they are fed.

and then BURN THEM! Yes burn them. just put it in your tank a little at a time. I filled 1/3 of my tank with 2 stroke mix (on accident) ran fine, though I cleaned the plugs and stuff afterwards. My mom put or brother put diesel in one of our 4 wheelers (ATV) It actually ran, but ran like bad and was mixed 50/50 gas/diesel.

Take your buckets to a dealership and ask if they can help you dispose of it. Worst case you might have to go to two or three places. At my shop we have a tank for antifreeze, a tank for motor oil, and a tank for fuel. We don't let people dump in our tanks, but we will go dump it for them if they give us the containers. Not too common, but comes up every so often.

We get a lot of bad/rusty/old gas from boats we work on. Normally we just pump it into junk cars before we send them to the crusher and let them deal with it. The same recycler that pics up our oil/antifreeze wants $7 A GALLON to get rid of it!

So just an update on this, I got the car pulled up to my house yesterday. Bought a battery for it, fired right up first try. After 4 years!! That old gas seems to be burning just fine. I figure the worst that will come of it will be maybe a clogged fuel filter and injectors, but I have spares. I also got the new tranny for it separated from my spare motor, so the plan is to get her back on the road after tax time next year.

Wouldn't the gas, fuel oil, and waste oil separate in your tank, as they're different densities?

Then when you got to the gas "layer" there would be trouble in your furnace.

at least here in cali HAZMAT will take away 10 gallons at a time of nasty stuff from home at a time.they don't want people dumping so if its not a business its free.sounds like its not an issue now but with a few phone calls you should be able to find out where and how.

I just flushed the cooling system in my F-150 over the weekend, on the bottle of antifreeze to dump the old antifreeze into the sanitarty sewer if allowed, so it must be ok to do somewhere.
