ok what to do??? constructive input wanted

alright...my turn to put my 0.02 in.

I contacted these guys years ago when I still had my ranger. They specialize in racing engines, but they were willing to build me one for my daily driver. Not only to the build engines, but they also have a crap-load of performance parts available too.

Don't think too many ppl have gone this route before. If i'm not mistaken, the one they were willing to build me was good for 300hp without NOS or turbo.

Good luck and have fun dude :)

EDIT: All their engines are 4 bangers and can be direct bolt-in to the factory mounts.

How bout

A 5.8l out of a Bronco/Fseries

A built supercharged 3.8l Thunderbird motor

A 2.0l out of a focus

A supecharged flathead

or just for fun a 7.3 powerstoke mounted in the bed

never seen any of these done before, probably a good reason.

but i would love a build I6 too

well since we are throwing around ideal how bout a 351m or 400 ford. sure they sucked outta the factory but with a good rebuild to get rid of 70s smog tech they can be great motors. they arent all that heavy and the aftermarket is starting to support them some and one would make a ranger flat get out of town. we used to have a 79 ford f150 4x4 with a healthy one that would scare the hell out of you when you stabbed the go pedal. Im thinking about a 300 for mine because they are really good motors too. I like FEs to and think one would make for a fun ranger to drive. And just for the heck of it y not a triton V-10, i know it wouldn't fit very easily but it sure would be fun.

This may be the Coca-Cola & pizza talking here, but I just had a brainstorm:

Could a 6.4 or a 6.0 Powerstroke fit into a Ranger? Is there pysically enough room in a Ranger engine bay (with major mods, of course) to make it work?

Or am I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out beyond left field here?

If you look in the V8 forum there's a guy (Dalpilot) with about an '05 with a 6.0 Powerstroke. Here's his thread: http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65886. But I've never seen one in a Gen 1 Ranger with the smaller engine bay it has.

LOL.. actually i havent really watched Trucks since Stacy David stopped hosting it. but last weekend i was off work and was flipping though the tv and saw it was on. A soon as i saw that rolling thunder truck i got furious and had to turn the tv off. i dont know why i got so mad about it, i should look at it like "their doing all the work and telling me what i have to do."

One guy i was talking to about my truck had even mentioned that rolling thunder truck once before, but i didnt know what he was talking about.

i wish i would have finished mine before they built theirs.... now everyone is going to be doing that swap.:annoyed:

What about a supercharged 4.0lt? Isn't there a guy on here with one?

Derek

I thought about a supercharged 3.8 t bird motor but the 4.6 interested me more but I would rather have a 5.4 but I don't want to cut up the hood to make it fit

I dont think you would have to mod the hood any.. not totally sure though ... i havent got that far yet.
