Oil pump change

Generally speaking how difficult is it to change out an oil pump in a chevy small block? Do I have to pull the motor...never done it before.

It all depends what vehicle the motor is mounted in.

it involves removing the oil pan, some vehicles the motor mounts must be loosened and the engine jacked up slightly or dropping down the front end to get clearance of the pan.
to do it you would have to pull the pan off completely and remove the drive mechanism to the oil pump(distributor or crank driven) and then remove the pump. hope this helps ya.
