The oil pressure light on my B2 (ex drivetrain) keeps flickering sometimes.. but if i turn off the engine and back on, its off... i think i have lose wire or bad sensor or something. The oil is full and looks fine. I do have a few oil leaks that will be addressed but nothing that should be causing pressure problems. I'm gonna get a manual oil pressure gauge to put on it b/c i'm always a little paranoid when it comes to something like oil pressure.

Does it sound like it's just the sensor or wire issue to yall?
Would your next step be a manual oil pressure gauge?
Anything else i should check?

put a manual gauge in there and watch it and if it looks ok then start testing out the electrical stuff

Find the sender and resqueeze its push on connector so it's making solid contact.

If it continues, replace that sender.

You can also plumb a pressure gage into the sender port and see actual pressure as a sanity check.

Will putting a manual effect the check oil light to? The oil level one.

you have 2 sensors.. ones a pressure sensor.. either on or off.... the check oil light is a sensor in the pan that tells you when the oil gets low.. my 4.0 the check gauge light would flicker and my oil pressure gauge would go crazy.. the wire was loose.... i since replaced the sensor for 6 bucks and added a mechanical gauge.. i T'd off the feed line to the stock gauge.. by doing this it kept the check gauge light off and the stock gauge works.. on my 99 ranger when its really cold out the check gauge light comes on and it looks like theirs No pressure.. after a few min the gauge comes back to life.

ok so the sensor in the left side of the pain is the oil level... hm... lol, i need to find the other sensor now...

this is what it looks like
Oil Pressure Light

I think I know where that is...
It looks similar to that.. It's close. I'll find it.

its on the driver side below ther power steering assembly.. one little wire that goes to it.

thank you sir!
i aint even looked at it yet. i picked up a manual pressure gauge, but i've been driving the 2wd explorer. such a smooth ride compared to what i'm used to lol..

If the light is flickering either it is the sender the oil pressure or the wire shorting out. Trace the wire and look for cracks or bare wire touching a ground somewhere. I would imagine if it was pressure it would be making alot of lifter or upper end noise. When the engine is running it opens the switch turning off the light. If the light is on when you turn the key on and turns off as soon as the engine starts the sender is probably allright. If it takes a bit to turn off after you start the engine it may be oil pressure issues. Mechanical oil pressure and water temp guages are the way to go for piece of mind.
