Oil light flicking on


I think I may have found the oil pressure sending unit? I found some round looking thing on the leftside on the engine block all the way at the back with a plug hooked to it, looks like maybe 1in socket could take it off. Is this it?

Yes, that is it.

And it does look like fresh oil under it.

These use "pipe threads" so the screw in part is tapered, meaning you screw it in tight don't over torque it.
Replacement will often have sealant on the upper threads already so nothing to add.
Make sure to wipe that area clean after removing the old one, so you can monitor the new one, just to make sure nothing else is going on.
 
I can not find it on any of the autoparts websites it keeps showing me switches
 
That is a switch.

Ford changed to oil pressure switch in the 80's, and put a 20ohm resistor behind the gauge(if so equipped).
The switch closes when there is 6 psi of oil pressure, so oil light will go off and/or gauge with show "normal"
 
I found it at O'Reilly's 13.99 for Motorcraft which is what I try to go with if possible on anything I buy, I guess its to the part store in the morning, what size socket is it anyway?

I think original OEM was 13/16 and new ones are often 1-1/16
Or metric equivalent
 
on my B2, I gave up on that and switched to a manual oil pressure gauge, for that reason... those sensors kept going out.
 
I replaced the oil pressure switch and retightened all the valve cover screws and its still leaking oil just the same, looks like its coming from where the transmission bolts to the motor so I guess the seal between them two? Looks like maybe the two top bolts on each side of the transmission.
 
There is no oil flow between transmission and engine.

Keep looking, rear main seal usually leaks down out of the inspection plate, I guess some oil could be thrown up by the flywheel but it would still be leaking out the inspection plate.
