Oil Change

It's nice to hear I'm not the only one who hand tightens the filter. As long as it's snug, you'll have no problems with it. When it comes time to change it again, you should be able to just twist it off by hand.

Alright, I finally got it done!

And, YES, that filter was troublesome. Finally got it out though. It was easier for me personally to take the filter out by the top. Oil filter sent oil everywhere on the ground too. :flipoff: Horrible design...

BUT... Taking the actual oil out and putting the new oil in was a piece of cake. :yahoo:

My oil was dirty as hell, and it had only been in there for 3500 miles... :icon_confused:

I'm guessing the dealership I bought it at used a cheap filter... or they used shitty ass oil... whatever it is I hope it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with my engine....

Thanks again guys for all the tips, nothing can beat the first time experience, but you guys helped out a lot. :icon_thumby:

Let's just say I will be better prepared next time(I bought a shorter oil catch bucket/pan cuz I had to use some boxes since my buckets were too tall, and I bought one of those wrench-off oil filter thingys to aid in grabbing and turning the filter).

Glad to hear it all worked out for you, oil change is one of the things that is better to do yourself if you can because then you know for a fact that its the way you want it. I don't trust anyone to change my oil. Your motor is probably fine as long as its not making any odd noises oil shouldn't be perfectly clean at 3500 miles. If nothing more than oil came pouring out your good:) I always check mine for like 3 days after just to make sure its topped off.

How do you know it was really dirty? The color of the oil is not a very good indicator. Some oils by nature turn dark after only a couple hundred miles. Doesn't necessarily mean that it's really dirty.

Oh okay, yeah no bits or anything came out. I'm gonna check the oil this morning(it's two days after) for level and for any visible leaks just to make sure everything is alright. Thanks again.

I have always hand tighten the oil filter and always need a little wrench help to get it loose............. I do like the old box says, hand tight and the 1/4 turn.
