Hi,

I recently procured a 1993 Explorer with the 4.0 and was comparing it to my truck which is a 1988 with a newer 4.0 (I don't know the exact year, but I think it's a 90 or 91). I noticed that the Explorer has an exhaust manifold that doesn't have separate runners like the one on my Ranger, which looks like a cast iron header. The one on the Explorer looks like it saves some space, but not much, and can't be good for power or efficiency. Anyone know what specific years used this and other styles of exhaust manifolds? Maybe the kind that came with my engine will help me narrow down what year it is.

Thanks

The 90-92 and 93-94 Manifolds should be the same.

I think you may have headers on the other 4.0, while the 93 Ex. has the stock manifolds.
