well, i picked up an instrument cluster for my hot rod and now i have a question: the one i got from the wreckers has 206,000 km on it an my cluster has 146,000. how do i roll back the odometer? it is a mechanical one..any way to do it?

rolling back an odometer is illegal.. You could always just swap the original odometer you had into the new cluster (if this is legal where you live). For what it's worth, drive with it displaying 206,000km's.. The only reason people roll back an odometer is to commit fraud. Who cares what it displays, unless you are attempting to sell it. But even then, the value difference between 206,000, and 146,000 kms isn't much of a difference, and certainly not worth the trouble if you get caught.

ya for sure its illegal but for just my purposes..i guess i can deal with the 206,000...since i plan to drive this truck into the ground :icon_twisted:. just wondering though! i check my oil enough to see when its time for a change anyways..its all good. as long as everything else works!

fraud is not the only reason, I have a buddy when he puts together/builds a truck frome ground up, including motor and trans he rolls it back to all zeros. But have yet to see one of these trucks go up forsale, generally we strip them back down and convert it to 2.5x2.5 chunks.
