i haven't seen anything that weird since i did hallucinagenic mushrooms in the early 90's

The horizontal shocks are called traction shocks(supposed to help with axle wrap). Most people use a solid bar. And as far as the rest of the rig, I too find it hard to believe it was in a 80's off road magazine. Not enough chrome or shocks.........
