I came across this today and it seems like a great idea. The page is blue on black unfortunately.

In case the link dies, it basically show using a block of wood on a jack to compress the torsion key instead of the expensive ford tool or a two jaw puller.

or you can suspend the truck, unbolt the upper BJ, the upper shock mount, and the sway bar end link, that'll allow enough droop to get the key off the 'stop'.

ya, but the 2 jaw puller is so simple and easy and way safer.

Not when the 2jaw fails and flys at your face... how do you think I came up with unbolting front end stuff to allow awesome droop? I missed the flying 2jaw luckily.

I've also seen bottle jacks jacking against the key to get it off the stopper.

to add to my earlier post...

you MAY wanna release the CV shaft from the hub. you may also wanna unbolt the caliper...both those would allow less hold up on getting hte LCA angled more downward.

Unless something is busted, why would you remove the torsion bar anyway? Just use the stock keys and bolts and start crankin!

*I agree with Fx4, gear puller=very bad idea I too have had a close encounter with one of those lol

you may want to replace the torsion bars that came on your ranger with stiffer ones.

or replace the heavily sagged 100,000 mile ones too. My B bars were soooooo saggy at only 70k, upgraded to #1's.

or installing a suspension lift(superlift or RCd both require unloading the bars)

or installing PreKeys to an 08+ truck(as in my picture)
