Notched frame vs V8?

jeez,,,you dont have to box a damn thing to do a v8 swap...i doubt he is talking about 6-700 hp.

Gee golly willickers can't someone just offer a suggestion? Who knows what will be done down the road, a little bit of extra effort at the beginning pays huge dividends later on. Personally if I lived closer to Koda I would offer to help him do anything he wanted.
You are right - he doesn't have to do a damn thing to the frame for a V8 swap BUT if you had read the very first post - he is considering a bag and drop which will involve a notch, which involves square boxed steel to form the notch and any modder with any sense would box the entire rear half in this case or build a tubular rear half. There are many ways of doing either project but when you do BOTH on the same chassis there needs to be some reinforcement because the factory structural integrity of the chassis has been changed and will be stressed differently than was intended.

my bad ,he asked about boxing pertaining to the v8. wasnt thinking about the bagging part cause i cant stand that gayness

Of course you will see unibody cars twisting from torque. The "unibody" is the frame. Big difference between framed vehicles. My mustang cracked near the roof next to the rear glass on the C pillers.

I'm currently building my third V-8 ranger. The last two did not have any modifications to the frames and I did not have any problems. This ones boxed from the cab to the rear bumper because of the notch.

My point exactly - sorry for the rant back there but there was more to it than most understood . . .

What the heck else would I do with a 2wd. :D

I think it looks good, depending on a truck. Semi stock look one second, then boom dropped on it's balls. Such a change a ninja wouldn't even expect it. The one I plan on doing this to someday will be a stepside regular cab. Hopefully being stepside, I won't run into too many problems. I expect a few.

I also have a plan on a Carbed V8 BII. Alot cheaper of a build, and strictly offroad (maybe) That make you happy? I have a thread describing it around here somewhere..
