this ****er hurt so damn much!

id bet it did.. looks real good though.

hey wes or legoms013 how hard is it to regear.. my dad isnt real hot on me swapping in another axle, idk why, he thinks its dumb, so i was considering saving up and getting an auto locker and 4.10 rebuild kit for my 7.5. itd be fine cause ill never do that kinda hardcore wheeling, but i dont wanna pay to have it done. any tips?

Ben did that tattoo come with a free pair of assless chaps. just kidding man it looks good. im just jealous because i cant afford ink.
Morgan blow up your 7.5 and find a 8.8 out of an expo. you can alway just put a new axle in behind your dads back. he will never know. but if your set on just re-gearing your 7.5 just do some research. and if you want help hit me up.

lol good call wes, blowing up a 7.5 wouldnt be too hard, we could put it our rangers and mash shit!

IMHO swapping an axle is easier than regearing (if I were to do it myself). I don't have the tools that it takes to do gear jobs, so I would rather swap and axle anyday of the week.

If you have the tools, mechanical ability, and enough patience to take your time and read up/study on how to do it, regearing wouldn't be that hard if you followed a regear guide/service manual.

Or you could build the axle on the side, have it regeared by a shop, and then swap it in....win win :headbang:

i was gonna swap in steves parts trucks 8.8 up here behind his back, but steve just disappeared.. anyway i wanna try and get him to say ok to an axle swap because thats easy shit. could do that alone. lol. well.. nah.

I did it alone. Dad was on vacation :icon_confused: lol

yeah morg the only thing that you would have to worry about with the exploder axle is needing new u bolts and welding on new spring perches and shock mounts.

i def need to convince him

if you get the right year, dont know what years off the top of my head, you dont even need to do shock mountsm just the u bolts.

You sure? I thought no explorer had shock mounts that could be used on a ranger, since stock {on the expo} they mount to the leaf spring retainer plate?

This would be news to me.

hey morg exploders are spring under so you will for sure need spring perches, as for the shock tabs, im not 100% on it, but i do believe you still need em.

You need perches and tabs, if your carefull you can cut the tabs off your old axle and use those. I reccommend new.perches. I just ordered perches and tabs for my explorer axle! Also you will need to do some brake lines if you get a disc brake rear axle.

this is true, forgot all about the disc brake part of it.

If you don't wanna re-do all the hardlines on the explorer axle, you can just use a front passengerside replacement rubber line and tie into the existing one and there is plenty of slack.

damn it might be easier to get a ranger 4x4 axle and rebuild it with a locker. i dont have a problem with doing the welding of spring perches and stuff, just lazy.. lol
