Nor Cal chat thread

im going to be running a full size truck steering box from a f-150 and im going to plate the frame and sleeve the bolt holes. with how light the truck is it should be fine. I see toyota boxes in 4 runners pushing 40s with 2.5 inches of back spacing. I think 3 inches would be good, if I get a 12 inch wide rim it would be more like 4-5 inches. still need to do more investigating on that one. it also depends on how my suspension mounts up. if I have the wrong back spacing Ill end up hitting my radius arms. the bigger the tires the bigger the issue is. I am planning on waaaaaay over building everything so Im not worried about wearing shit out. we shall see how it goes as things get closer tho.

Anyone need drop hangers? I need these sold asap. Beefy! Way better than kartek hangers

alright guys here you go. got the steering done and im pickin up my brake lines tomorrow. i should be able to drive it this weekend.
got my steering box mounted

steering links

and got the winch mounted up

Full width really is not that much wider than a ranger. I am honestly a bit disappointed. I wish it was wider. I don't know why everyone assumes it'll get you tickets all over the place...

I have two 33's that I could throw your way if you want. May only be good as spares, but they're there. I just have to make sure my own friend doesn't want them first.

Are y'all facebook friends or what? I feel like everyone on here is Facebook friends with everyone else but me haha.

Depends on what axle you choose. Dana 44's range from 58" to 69" wms to wms. Then throw your tire/wheel combo(tire width and wheel backspace) on top of that you can get pretty wide.

A stock 87' BII is 65" to the outside of the tires.
With my Dana 44 from a 78' F-250(69" wms to wms) 16.5x8 4" backspace wheels, 37x12.50's, I'm 82" to the outside of the tires

With 16.5x10 5" backspace wheels and 38.50x16's, I'm 85". That's damn near 2 feet wider then stock.

You're right. I should have specified 93+. Older rangers seem to be a bit narrower. My bad.

Edit: I also assumed an addition of fender flares, which if you are undertaking an SAS aren't exactly difficult or expensive...

After I beat the living snot out of my 44 I wanna put a FW Dana 60 and 39's under there....probably right after I slap a 4BT in the beezy :headbang:

yeah I figured I might as well do the 60 right away, I dont wanna snap a 44 and get stuck. my main goal is to run fordyce without too much hassle. I want it way over built so I am not on the edge of breaking stuff, or if I get into a rough spot I can safely throttle out :)a set of 60s and a stable wide platform should do that well.

rockwells are always a viable option. 2.5 ton rated vs my 1 ton. plus like 6.17ish gears and factory lockers.

some day I wanna bob a deuce and use it as a tow rig, and to get my cristmas tree every year hahahaha

Good question! We had a meet up last year but it ended up being all stock and prerunner rangers. I was the only one there that was sas'd.

It is a good question. I would be there no doubt it wasnt such a long drive...

O dont have a sas yet :( stupid work. I am working on getting all the bits together. gonna try to get the axles done by the end of the year then its all little stuff (other than tires)

Found out today I busted a U-joint cap on my front end. So I have a busted rear and front end. I'm seriously thinking 60's are the way to go!
