Noise when starting 2010 Ranger

mine makes an odd noise too sometimes on startup but it typically last no longer then a second. What im thinking it is is the starter isnt fully releasing from the flywheel sometimes. but it hardly does it now, ill wait till it becomes more common before i start replacing stuff...expensive stuff like the starter anyway
