No Spark 2.3l 1992 Ranger

I am at a loss, I have no spark on a 1992 Ranger. I changed out the starter solinoid but figured out I had a weak battery. Could someone point out where too look where my spark may have gone? Is there a wire that I might have got crossed when changing out my solinoid. All Fuses are ok.

Coils are bad. Take off each plug wire one at a time while running. Two things you are looking for. One for the engine to stutter without the wire connected. If it stutters that wire is fine. Also when you pull it out hold it a 1/4 inch and look for spark. The coils have a rep for going out quick on these trucks. Go to the junkyard and replace.

did you connect the ignition wire at the solenoid on the battery side of the solenoid. it would be a larger guage wire that goes to the power distribution center in the engine compartment. does anything else work lights horn sounds like you didnt hook up the ignition wire at the solenoid it goes on the same terminal as the pos battery cable.

Just went out and checked the ignition wire and it's hooked to the battery side of the solinoid. I can't check the coil packs like suggested above, the truck doesn't start and I came across something the the Haynes manual that said to check for spark on the exhaust side not the intake side. Why? Didn't check the lights but I know for certain the dome light works.

Ok, now I am really puzzled. I remembered when I got the ranger 13 years ago I thought the coolant was too cool, so I changed the thermostat and when that didn't work, I replaced the temperature sensor. After the changed, the Ranger wouldn't start, so I broke out the old school code reader where you count the flashes and look up in a book. Anyhow after reading the codes and clearing them, the Ranger fired right up! Remembering this, I decided to try this approach this morning and presto, she fired right up! Can anyone explain why simply reading the codes will allow the truck to start? I did have a codes 24 26 and 328 this morning. I did nothing to correct these, just read and reset.
