no power to computer????

hi all....
i just swapped a 98 4.0 to a 2000 4.0 ranger
the engine is really sporadic ..... misses alot stalls up and down .....
when i turn the ignition on my check engine light does not come on ....
i heard that means there is no power to computer ......i checked all fuses ...
all were well ....... any ideas.......????
all input would be highly appreciated !!!!

Are you sure all of your bulbs are working properly in the dash? If there was no power to the computer the truck wouldn't run at all.

yes the bulbs are working .....this only happend after i put the 2000 engine in...i didnt think it would run at all either...but it does...but really rough....thnx for your help....
