Good thing is I only need to smog once only for like transfer of owner ship after I get it I'n my name I dont have to smog it again![]()
Correct me, but doesn't your vehicle still have to be smog certified every two years? The smog jockies at the gas stations still look at the systems to be sure it matches up with the sticker the referee places on the vehicle.
I had taken my 74 Courier with 2.8 V6 to the referee years ago and it passed all the parameters easily. The referee looked it over and made out the sticker and put it on the door jam.
A few years later, I take it to a gas station with some Habib character doing the smog inspection and told me the sticker is wrong, said it had to have a fuel restriction plate in the filler neck. He marked up the damn sticker, then it didn't pass HC. So I fix the problem and take it to another station and the dude tells me he can't inspect it due to the modified sticker. Now I take it back to a new referee and he gets me on stupid stuff like the electric choke connection. I fix that and get a new sticker. (First referee couldn't do his job right, needed to be fired!) But I still needed to get it inspected. What a farce!
Down the road I move to Arizona, and they have dedicated state run inspection stations. Well I take it there and they say they are going to check it with 4 cylinder standard readings. I said it has the V6 in it and here is the sticker from CA. They said they don't use any of that stuff. Fortunately it passed just fine. Well that truck is long gone. And so am I, now in a state that doesn't give a crap about smog. No gridlock, just two lane roads and no one on them. Yep, CA has really forked themselves!
