no 1st or 2nd

i have a 86 5speed 4x4 and the selector for 1st and second keeps falling down what is the problem here most likely.

Are you saying it pops out of gear in 1st and 2nd?

no ok it comes from shifter to the ball then the rod that slides foward and back and up and down to cycle between the gear sets 1-2,3-4,5-r. well the forks that control 1-2 wont stay up where the lever can push or pull on them to make the syncros change gears inside the trans. idk why either im thinkin bad bushing? is this common.
