Nissan Frontier Pro-4X

Some of that stuff they could have gotten in on a trade dirt cheap just to do whatever with the plan of running into the ground.

The plow truck smells that way.

Toyota doesn't make anything like a Transit in the US that I am aware of so it isn't like they have anything that could do that instead.

I do agree though... imports do not like roadsalt/chemicals. Parts availability here in the sticks is very lacking as well.
Those would be believable excuses except that they bought the plow truck and van new, another member of their dealer group sells Fords. Toyota doesn't build a 3/4 ton truck because they know what would happen to them in the hands of contractors, commercial snow plowers, and loggers.

Or because it's not a market they're interested in?

Your prejudice is on display again.

Most of the commercial plow guys here run 90's half ton gm...

The Frontiers are solid. Until the current refresh, it didn't change seemingly forever.

Every damn auto parts store near me uses them for part delivery vehicles. I really like what they did with the new one. I test-drove one at the dealer when I was getting my truck serviced. If the refresh had been done a few years earlier, I could have seen myself with one.

Supposedly O'Reilly's is switching to Rangers now.

Per our driver anyway, he is fussing for a Ranger FWIW lol

I know this is an OLD.... thread. But purchased a 2026 Frontier Pro4X and thought somone may find the info useful.
I've owned a Mazda B3000 4X4 for about 14 Years. I really liked the setup 2-Dr withe Jump Seats and a good size bed. 2026 Ford Rangers would cost approaching 50k for the options I wanted 4X4, Trailer Sway and Brake Ctrl with 6,700 lb Tow capacity and a 6.1 Ft. Bed. Forgot all about Nissans, then looked them. Ended up purchasing a 2026 Frontier Pro 4X with a Crew Cab (seating for 5), Trailer options mentioned, and ever option available other than Moon Roof and Nissan GPS. With the LB (long Bed 6.1 Ft) Bed. Overall cost was 42k.

Around 10 k cheaper than Tacoma and a 15 k cheaper than Ford Ranger similarly equipped. With the Pro4X package comes with Bilstein® shocks, an electronic locking rear differential, a Terrain Mode Selector with four modes, rugged all-terrain tires, and protective skid plates - Titanium. Also has Spray in Liner and a 115V outlet in the Bed.

Have not had it in the Back Country yet but certainly looking forward to it. A surprise I like is it has a Truck Pitch indicator similar to an aircraft's ADI in degrees. It tells you how much of a bank and nose pitch you have.

Have not put too many miles on it but so far like it a lot. One thing I do not like is too large a turning radias. The truck is so long I still have to make adjutments when in a lot. Has onboard cameras that give 360 Degree views which comes in handy.

Love the Mazda and Rangers but for the money, do not think you can beat a Frontier any level based on what you get for the purchase price.

Those long bed frontiers are boats, ha ha ha, but it's a crew cab long bed so what can you do.

I like that new v6 in the frontier. Its got plenty of power and feels very sporty. Your transmission also is used in the full size Nissan so it's over built for a mid-size truck, which is great news for you.

I bet your Frontier lasts many many many years.

I've had both a Nissan hardbody pickup and a Ford Ranger with a 2.3 and for what it's worth I love my Ranger, but it feels heavy and slow, with an engine that has 0.7L more displacement than the Nissan. Mind you, this is me comparing a 1992, pre-Frontier model pickup with a near end of life, legacy chassis and base model engine Ford.

I always felt like American cars just couldn't match the efficiency of the lighter weight Japanese models. The 4-cylinder Nissan felt lighter and more capable than my 4-cylinder Ranger does, and for what I'd use it for, it would probably do just fine. I feel like the retort is always, "you bought the 4-banger when there are V6 options,". Exactly my point. In order to make the American truck do what the Japanese truck already did, I'd have to overcome the weight difference.

But, I live in the South where I can say things like that. My Nissan likely wouldn't have made it 5 years as an all-weather vehicle even a few hundred miles north of here. That "weight difference" is the amount of sheer steel that would hold up better longer in salty environments. Not forever, just longer. I see it a lot when Salt Belt ex-pats come down here. The junkyards are starting to get rustier vehicles as the better examples of those same running vehicles are beginning to catch a premium, especially for those who value their privacy (how 🦆ed is this world where that's a factor in buying a car these days?).

If I had the choice to buy another '92 Hardbody I would, but I'd park it right next to my Ranger. I love how the Ranger feels like a truck. It rides like a truck and drives like a truck. The Nissan is probably the reason I'm interested in the Maverick over the new Ranger. I like that the Maverick is 30% truck and 70% boxy car. I already have a truck. A Maverick with a cap is the minivan with a dedicated cargo bay I've always wanted.
