I'm lookin at this diff for my '04 XLT. 7.5, 10 bolt. I don't want to try and run the rubicon with it, just want to know it will do it's job effeciently on a muddy trail. Does it work or is it a waste of $$$. The Truck is 95% street driven, so it needs to have good street manners, any better no locker diffs out there for the $$$? :icon_bounceblue:

HELLO......HELLo......HELlo......HEllo......Hello......hello.....................

Anyone in here??

Looks like the stock-type unit. It's fairly decent for what it is. There are some better units available aftermarket, although selection is a bit limited for the 7.5" axle (the 8.8" has a lot more for it).

I believe the Detroit TrueTrac gear-type L/S is available for it however (similar to the Torsen unit). These work pretty well for a limited-slip, and shouldn't wear out near as fast as a clutch-type diff.

SOLD!

I like the idea of the non clutch design over the clutch one, and i use the truck as a daily driver, so wear would be a problem. knew there was a better solution. Thanks! :3gears:

The Auburn is a clutch-type L/S, and to top that off, you cannot even rebuild it due to it's cone design. Once it's done, you have to throw it away and buy a new one (although I think I recall seeing something somewhere Auburn is nice enough to give you a coupon or rebate for a small amount off if you send the old one in to them).

Get the TrueTrac.

I've been running an Auburn for several years. It doesn't work quite as good as a fresh clutch type posi (Trac Loc). Although, It still works as good as the day I installed it where a Trac loc would need to be rebuilt by now.
If I where going to buy a new one, it would be the TrueTrac.
