no one was saying that halogen bulbs are brighter than HID bulbs. HID bulbs will always be a lot brighter than halogens. the only real downside in my opinion is that you have to have projector housings and personally i dont really like the ones for my truck.

oh okay i never heard that you had to run them in a projector housing because i had had a friend who had a custom shop and he said that he put hid in normal stock housing and they work fine and that you don't need the projector housing and is there any laws that say other wise in new jersey ??? I don't think they make hid projector housing for a 96 ford ranger???:icon_welder:

they fit in stock housing but it is illegal to have HID in a non projector housing. without the projector the glare from HID lights spread far enough to blind any oncoming driver or driver in front of you. its kinda like driving with your brights on all the time.

But i drive with my high beams on all the time because my bulb suck and i would not be able to see anything with low beams on

if the low beams dont put off enough light to see its time for new bulbs. if your housings are foggy you can wet sand them to bring some clarity back which will help a lot.

i know i need new bulbs but don't have the money i don't have a job but i am looking and the passenger side housing is broken and shot to hell but again i can't afford to fix it and my truck is still running like crap which need to get fix first when i have some money!!!!

i found projector housing with i hid in them but i don't think they are legal because there is no orange reflector in the turn signal

as long as you have an orange bulb in the turn signal you shouldnt have any problems

They have reflectors in them, the company that makes them uses clear reflectors. You just have to use amber bulbs, LED ones like I have are really sharp looking.
And I will guarantee you they don't have HIDs in them, the projector housing has to be modified to use HIDs. They just come with cheap no-good chinese xenon bulbs, the kind that are lucky to last 6 mo and aren't that bright.

See the flash reflecting off of the reflector...

HIDs installed, and see the reflector.
