New Truck

Nice truck man, I have always been a fan of any turbo motor, and the 3.5 is plain out cool.

Approx $48,100 US for $47k Canadian, but who ever pays sticker price? It's a 35k truck, and not a bad one at that. I like my ranger, and I like the direction Ford is going with the F150's but I'd be into a new Chevy long before a Ford.... thats just me.

Nice truck TinyBear!

I wanted to post before a bunch of the "ford is better than everything" people started b!itching.

As much as I love my Ranger and Super Duty, I couldn't see myself buying anything off of the 2011/2012 Ford line up. Until they can keep a decent motor within a line up for more than 5 years without major issues, I cant see it happening. I have always been a die hard Ford fan, but credit is deserved where credit is due. They haven't put a decent diesel (imo) in the HD line since they scrapped the 7.3, and only time will tell with these new gasser motors. The 5.3 Chevy is a far better motor than a 5.4 Ford......and has proven itself worthy. I guess we'll see in a couple years, but as of this moment, I have to agree with Andrew.

my 0.02$

The 5.0 makes the 6.2 look pretty stupid Mustang vs Camaro, I suspect the trend will continue vs the 5.3 in truck trim.

The truck battle is theirs to lose, that GM people are happy (and even brag about) torque levels where the 2v 5.4's were in '99 (11 years ago) but at a higher RPM is amusing. Ford has upped it twice since then.

All that the 5.4 has against it really is the much overblown spark plug issues. It has earned a well deserved good name for itself.

I can't see myself buying anything much newer than my '02 F-150. It is still kinda simple to work on, gets very decent milage, does what I need it to... and above all is paid for.

You don't. But you decided to compare the power of your 7.3 to this truck, and nothing you did to the 7.3 increases power. That 3.5 Ecoboost will kick the crap out of my diesel, and I have the screw completely out of my injection pump--it's at full volume. Your 7.3, or my 6.2, could destroy that 3.5 if it were actually "highly modified". The 3.5 Ecoboost is great by itself--you don't need to trash something else to compare it. An Holset HX50 and an injection pump from CDS and these old engines can see 500hp and 1,000ft#.

Um will you are joking right. I pretty much followed the power formula lol. Increase air flow, increase fuel delivery, and increase exhaust flow = more power. On top of that i made the trans much more efficient getting more of that power to the wheels. So yeah i considered my truck SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful than stock. As did anyone who drove it including my brother who had a GMC 1ton with a 6.2 Diesel with Banks turbo, AND my good friend with a Dodge Ram 2500 with a 5.9L cummins chipped with a intake and exhaust. In fact in a drag it would pull on the cummins till about 80 wear the cummins would start gaining ground back. I LOVED that truck and if i wish i still owned it some days. ONLY reason i ever sold it was i needed the money to purchase my house.

I never once said the Ecoboost was BETTER than a diesel i am sure my old 7.3 would spank it in a towing challenge BUT i said the 3.5L eco boost DRIVES like a Diesel witch it does it pulls very strongly from the low revs and continues pulling in to the mid range just as strong. The big difference is with the eco boost its power continues on much further into the revs than the diesels do (notice i did not say CAN).

Again i will say as far as diesels go i know my shit. I make my living doing so (and am licensed as such) and have had every job in the feild from a lube guy to running a Shop. I back to just being a lead tech because i honestly missed fixing em. I work on everything from small stuff like GMCs with the 6.6L duromax and the Fords from 7.3L PS up to the current 6.7L PS. All the way up to C15 cats, ISX Cummins and Detroit Series 60's and DD15s(witch i am factory trained on).

Oh and yes with windows down the eco boost's turbos are very audible windows up ya here em but its a VERY quite cab. I so far very happy with the truck first tank was just shy of 17mpg this tank is looking to be closer to 19.5mpg.
