New tools you've bought recently?

My husky air compressor was broken again, so I decided I was going to buy a smaller Bostich pancake compressor they had at the local hardware store. Very impressed, super quiet. It this point I probably will not even bother to fix the husky.

They had the air tools right there so I decided to pick up a palm nailer, never used one before. This thing is like magic compared to swinging a big framing hammer. If anyone doesn’t have one I highly suggest you stop what your doing and go get one.

I had the bright idea once to use a 4lb hammer for framing, because it would be faster. It was faster, but if your not using it everyday it’ll wear you out quick.

I'm gonna say this stuff is a tool. My neighbor gifted me this can a few months ago. I have to say... it's pretty impressive.

In my opinion, Kroil is the best penetrating oil money can buy. Second only to the proverbial ATF/acetone mix.

I’ve never seen Kroil in a store, must it be ordered? I found another penetrating oil from Kimball that I really like too but it also has to be ordered. I’d like to try Kroil.

Ed’s Red as that is known in the firearms community is pretty well known to be a myth…I’ve tried it and am not impressed. The acetone evaporates right away and ATF is not soluble in acetone… so I’m not sure why it’s better than just straight ATF.

My neighbor bought a case... says when he gets almost to the last can... he orders another case.

Amazon sells it but it's expensive. I'll ask where he buys it.

Our local NAPA has it on their website but none on the shelf. I want to say it's still expensive.

I've only ever gotten it by ordering. I don't have any currently. So it's just time to Google and find the best price. I doubt that I'll order a case. But maybe a quart or 2 in regular containers instead of the aerosol (aerokroil).

Best penetrating lube I’ve ever used was called Red lion and had graphite mixed in to help lubricate.

was a brand sold only by a company called Chromate Industries. Went out of business in the 90’s.

Still have a few cans left.

Haven’t been able to find any penetrant with graphite mixed in. You either get the penetrant or the graphite spray.

Kroil is awesome stuff. I use the non-aerosol stuff for cleaning my guns, and always had a few of the spray cans around for breaking the midwest rust. Kroil used to only sell to commercial or industrial customers. I remember they asked for a company name when I ordered; I just used my employer's name. It was very hard to find in a store. A few years ago they were purchased by a company whose mission was to "expand the Kroil brand" or something like that. They gave it a new logo and made it more available to the general public. Also it's quite a bit more expensive than I remember, I think somewhere around $35 a can now?

Well don’t I look silly.

They sure are proud of it though.

I looked last night. I found gallon cans of it for around $120. That’s just under $1/ounce. Most prices I saw were between $2 and $3 per ounce. I didn’t order yet. But it’s in my Amazon basket.

Wow, the nice thing is that a little goes a long way. When I bought my last gallon a few years back it was $56. I think I'll get one of those refillable sprayers and just use that instead of buying more aerosol cans.

I have a couple of those spay bottles for cleaning stuff with the squeeze trigger, I fill those out of a gallon can for WD-40 and PB Blaster. Works pretty good because you can adjust the spray to get a wider or more narrow pattern.
