Could be an injector, or plug/wire issue.It was a definite "dead hole" when I heard it running in the shop. The engine shook and it missed like clockwork. Definitely not a random engine miss.
Of course, that was also how mine acted when I got it. The miss went away a bit above idle speed, but it lacked any hint of power beyond 2000-2500 RPM.
No check engine light or trouble codes when scanned..
I bought it from a shop that couldn't figure out the problem, and fixed it after finding that article. See the "dimple" in the pic below? That was lined with the marks (both gears) when I popped out the rubber plugs.....

It's worth looking into.
