New timing belt, now a misfire?

It was a definite "dead hole" when I heard it running in the shop. The engine shook and it missed like clockwork. Definitely not a random engine miss.
Could be an injector, or plug/wire issue.
Of course, that was also how mine acted when I got it. The miss went away a bit above idle speed, but it lacked any hint of power beyond 2000-2500 RPM.
No check engine light or trouble codes when scanned..
I bought it from a shop that couldn't figure out the problem, and fixed it after finding that article. See the "dimple" in the pic below? That was lined with the marks (both gears) when I popped out the rubber plugs.....

It's worth looking into.

Alright......I just got back from the garage and the mechanic told me it has good compression. 150-160 Good news

I do trust the guy. He has helped me out in the past. I told him I did not want to put any more money into it aside from the timing belt and water pump he had already done. He said he understood, but told me to just leave it there and he'd pull it back in and try to pinpoint the issue.

Any thoughts? Injector, sensor wire, sensor?

Again, I thank you very much for your thoughts and comments!

Nate

Well if all 4 cylinders have good and even compression, all 4 cylinders have spark then that leaves fuel.

So I would suspect a bad fuel injector or a wiring harness issue, if this person was a good "mechanic" he would know which cylinder is missing and why by now... this engine is pretty simple.

He told me cylinder #3 is dead. He said he was going to pull it back in the garage and try to pinpoint the problem.

I think I'll give him until Monday, if he hasn't found the problem by then, I'll drive it home and figure it out myself.

Thanks again for all of the help and comments Everyone!

Nate
