New stick knob

I drive a stick and want to put in a new knob. I want to make my own and a friend of mine had on awesome idea. Since I am such a big nerd (video games rock ) I figured I could put a oldschool joystick in place of the knob. I will post pics later when I find a joy stick I like. Since joysticks are hollow, anyone got any ideas on how to make it more durable?

Find a bolt with the same thread patter as the shifter. Fill the joy stick up with bondo with the bolt in it. But put some type of lube on the bolt. Let it all dry then back the bolt out and screw the joy stick on your shifter. It is just an Idea.
