Okay I am getting more serious with my prerunner and need to get rid of the steering wheel and airbag before hitting the serious whoops and having a airbag deployment breaking my nose and ruining my day.

Anyone ever replaced a steering wheel with an stock wheel where the airbag has been deployed yet? How did you do it?

I have a 94 Ranger SC and I am looking to install the Grant EVOLUTION steering wheel model 1080

A 94' shouldn't have an air bag. They started appearing in 95'.

Can we get a pic of your steering wheel just to make sure you don't have one? I usually don't trust model year splits when you're that close... production is never that exact. I know the steering wheel and dash to to Gen 3 styling for 1995.

That wheel does not have an airbag.................

Wow all that "FLUFF" and nothing under it...great news

Thanks everyone for your intelligence on this matter...

So I can just rip everything apart to remove the wheel and no worries about getting hit by an airbag...

Pretty much.........LOL

Also, as seen in the pics, non-airbag wheel is 2 spoked & the 95 up airbagged wheel is 4 spoked.:icon_thumby:

GOOD LUCK!!!

Even if you did have an air bag, you could unplug it and leave it.

I am planning on finishing the back this week and will go to the inside next with a total redo, then to the motor, trans and then up front after all that repaint and then ENJOY...

Two bolts on the side of the stearing wheel, this will let the airbag be removed, unplug the wires, and then remove the screws from teh bracket under the airbag. The principal is the same for most wheels with airbags. I dont think you wheel has an airbag but I am responding with what you asked for.

NOT CORRECT.

Air bags were an option in 93 after 05/93 production thru 6/94.

Please do not state exacts with any model year or option unless you VIN decode the vehicle or have access to the production numbers.

Thanks Guys (and Gals?) for your input, I am finishing up on the primmer and paint of the rear cage today, so the whole cab is taped off. Tomorrow I finish primer the tubes and shoot it with paint, hopefully I can clear coat it tomorrow as well as well as start setting the diamond plate. So it looks like Thursday I will be pulling the wheel off and getting to the inside of the truck.

Did those trucks have a different steering wheel than the 88(?)- 94 style?
I have never seen or heard of that model dash, having an airbag of any type! :icon_confused:

Awesome looking truck too by the way!
