I bought FCS shocks off Rock Auto and they seem too short? That can't be right. Do i need to jack up the hanging suspension a bit? The rubber bushing is about 3/4" from where it should be in the upper hole when the shock is fully extended.

What do they look like when compressed?

It's correct. In those pics your suspension is at full drop, it's not normally going to be that high. The shock does act like a limiting strap in these (and many vehicles) and using them as such isn't good for them, but they will never see that much extension during normal driving. That is, unless you're somehow lifting the front tires off the ground while driving.

Don't jump the truck or launch it so hard that it lifts the tires and you'll be fine. Or if you do plan to do that, get beter shocks (and probably some other parts) and install limit straps.

Yeah, what Josh said... this style suspension has more travel than most and longer shocks would get you more travel but for normal daily driver use you're good with what you got...
