New "Scorpion" Diesel

 IMHO the powerstroke left us when they did in the 7.3. it just seemed like the 6.0 and 6.4 were not the same breed.
And the no to a manual tranny part makes me kinda die inside.... :(

iT TEARS ME UP.. i hope someday to have a 7.3 powered toy.. IDI or what have you, we used to have an old shop truck an 86 i wish i was old enough to drive before my uncle sold it.. otherwise said slobbery blahh of truck woulda been mine!

ditto, man:headbang: there isnt much better than those old diesels! my dad had an 85' 6.9 with an aftermarket turbo that went until there not much body was left on her, then he picked up a 95' 7.3 powerstroke, and man did i love that truck!

For me, it is not the motor only. I DO NOT like an auto tranny, as I have been left to walk way too many times because the damn things just quit pullling. I have owned trucks built by the original "Big 3", and they ALL have had issues, especially with the newer electronic crap. Quality control seems to be a long dead thing, along with good engineering design. Now, I know that you can REbuild alot of the newer trannies and get a stouter unit, but it is just piss poor that I would be looking at paying $XX,XXX for something that I am going to have to turn around and sink MORE money into to have the tranny gone through, sometimes BEFORE the original warranty is expired. It seems like ever since Ford discovered auto trannies other than the old "C" series that they can not build a tranny that is reliable. Look at the A4LD, to start with. I prefer to pick my own gears, especially since I live in hill country, and an auto is not something that I want for pulling a load.
