Well, much as I love her the Ranger is getting old and sickly, won't start as easy any more, and usually blows blue smoke once she gets going, and two compact pickups just isn't going to cut it much longer for us since we want to have kids at some point. So tonight after work we went looking around the lot where I work and then sat down, signed some papers, and brought home this:

New Ride

Don't worry though. The Ranger came home too. I actually can't legally sell her anyway, the title is still in my parents' names.

The Fords together.

The woman with her new ride:

And her with both:

We kept the Chevy too. Due to the aforementioned problems with the Ranger we decided that it was worth more to us as a vehicle in our possession than the MAYBE 1200 we'd have gotten for trade. A brand new 2010, well optioned Escape for $24K and change with full extended warranty and GAP insurance with no trade. We weren't planning to buy anything tonight, but the price and vehicle were right.

did you get the 0% they are offering?

We didn't qualify for all the little nit-picks they have about the 0%. We got 4.89% (so they even beat our bank's "first time car buyers" special rate) with 2000 cash back rebate and my D-plan, brought a vehicle that would have started around 27,500 down to about 23,400, then we got the extended bumper to bumper and the GAP at dealer cost (because my boss is awesome) so that was around $1700.

not too bad then. The escape is a nice vehicle. they are very similar to the liberty that my wife has. However my wife wanted a mommy car so when we bought a vehicle in april, we got the fusion. That is a pretty sweet car. I just got the SE model with the sync package. I-4 auto. I love it but my wife cant get the sync to work for her. Her voice doesn't have enought percussion in it for the microphone to pickup.. Hehehe, works fine for me tho. So anywho, nice score on the escape, may you have numerous miles of happy driving!!

nice ride man!!! good choice!
but even better is that the Ranger is still with you.

Congrats on the new ride. The Escapes are a great value. Solid A- in all categories. Tis Tis on the parking violations. Doubled up in a handicaped space? Expect coal and switches.

BTW How's the new job treating you? Learnin' anything new?

Congrats mate. I still say you should have just dropped a 4.0 in the Ranger though :D

Actually, it's not a parking violation. Our complex has one assigned space per apartment and then there is a bunch of unassigned spaces. The previous tenants in our unit were P/D and had a wheelchair van, but that is our assigned spot that happens to be wide enough for us to park two in. They keep saying they are going repaint it and then never do, but there are no other P/D tenants here, so we are good.

As for the job, treating me very well. Just got a brand new car for about $5K less than sticker with no trade in and no haggling.

As for things I'm learning, go read my "Really MOPAR?" thread. :icon_rofl:

I hope you spent the extra coin and got the 4x4 version and not some lame 2 wheel drive escape!!!:dunno:

so this was what you were talkin about last night!

Nice set of wheels! I would consider replacing the intrepid with an escape if I could afford it right now.

They don't make a 4wd escape... only a AWD... not the same thing.

You are WRONG they do make a ( 4x4 ) and even call it ( 4x4 ) here is the proof!!

Intelligent 4-wheel drive (4WD)

Whether traveling on- or off-road, the available Intelligent 4WD System for the 2010 Escape is always on and always working to help provide maximum traction. What’s so smart about the system is its ability to monitor traction 200 times per second by sensing traction input and automatically adjusting torque distribution as needed. Such adjustments work to help ensure the 2010 Escape achieves maximum grip where the rubber meets the road.

CHEERS!!

CHEERS!!

Ford's "Intelligent 4-wheel drive" system is an all-wheel drive system that has a wet-clutch Power Transfer Unit that can be disengaged by the computer.
