New Ranger Question!!

Anyone happen to own a 2008-2009 Ford Ranger FX4 and dont mind helpin out a new guy?

Im pretty sure this is a dumb question but since ive only owned 1 Ranger, which is the one I have right now, that doesnt move due to Wheel Bearing, and new Fuel Injectors, here goes nothin.

How well do they perform off-road? I see a bunch of people with Ranger Edges and just put a little bit of a lift with some decent tires.

Yes, I have seen the older Rangers and their performance but im just curious about the very recent ones, specially 2009.

ford hasnt updated the drivetrane of the ranger for 10 years now...the '09's have the exact same axles and suspension as was first put in the '98 models (aside from the '01-up running live axles with no hubs).

it performs like....well like IFS. it doesnt flex well, lifting more than 2" is expensive, the sealed hub/bearing units dont tolerate wide tires or wheels well and are spendy to replace (but are getting cheaper).

but the rest of the drivetrane is fairly stout and can perform OK off road when locked with decent tires.

Ok just for shits and giggles I will see where this goes, if you took my truck from 1996 and it was completely factory stock 4x4 except for 31 in bfg's all terrains and you took a 2009 OR 2008 completely stock 4x4 and put on the EXACT same tires.

Now you take these two stock trucks to an off road site and put them up against each other and could scientifically figure which truck did better, WHO would be the over all winner when all was said and done?? and just to make sure, you ran the course 3 times each in each truck. We are talking about strictly off road 4x4 capability.

1996 or 2008/2009 ?????

from a sheer off-road performance standpoint, and all things being equal, the 97 and down TTB trucks have the advantage with more front end suspension travel.
