New Injectors

Unfortunately guys this will be a while before I can post any info on which ones worked/didn't work I am a ways out on this and the project is not a top priority right now, lot of other things going on... I am happy to get a couple of hours a week to mess with it honestly. I still am waiting on all new brake lines, need to replace the fuel tank, pump etc, and run trans lines before I am near ready to even set the engine back in so it will be a delayed answer.

So an update here.....

@Uncle Gump I found the post!!

TO all the injectors I purchased seemed to work find through engine break in and it ran ok with a slight miss and a lot of smoke. Once the 20 minute break it was done and I could let it idle I noticed a fuel would come from the intake after it was shut off along with a lot of other issues. Ended up swapping injectors out one night (after a few beverages) found one original had a busted cap so I stuck 1 new injector in rest all originals. After 30-40 minutes of run time on and off determined # 4 cylinder was not igniting fuel although it had spark. Suspected an intake valve problem as fuel was still coming from the intake. Pulled cover checked pushrod lengths and opening of valves, held compression. At that point noted that # 4 was the cylinder with the 1 new injector. Swapped it out and boom seems good to go. So thinking all along 1 of the new injectors was stuck open unfortunately that was the one I swapped back in. Either way I think I am good now although my cats are probably trashed, but I had plans to replace anyway w/ 1 high flow.

New injector review..... 0/5 :)

I knew we had talked about this... good find and follow up.

It's unfortunate... but is pretty common for most parts these days.

I think after reading through this post... if I need injectors... I will be looking for Accels.

I had one bad one on my Explorer and I sent them all off to Mr. Injector for a rebuild (https://www.mrinjector.us/) Had about $130 into it total and about a week to get them back. They came back looking brand new with a flow test report and they work perfectly. I would HIGHLY recommend that route instead of new parts of unknown quality!

I will be sending my "new" ones I bought there as soon as I return home. THANK YOU. Won't swap until I feel I need to or get bored but rather be ahead of the game, like I thought I was!

Makes me wish I had a good used set I could send out.

I know my 2.9L has had some really old fuel run through them. I'm hoping to clean the fuel system and put some fresh fuel in and be good to go.

@Uncle Gump. Definitely worth trying or sending out prior to dumping money on “new” lol I got a great set I’ll send you 😂😂😂

I thought we were friends...

Haha actually have a set in the donor truck I could pull if interested but I’m sure you could grab some from a junkyard for pennies

All good...

I really need to find a couple parts just for spares at some point.

I have that spare truck let me know what your looking for

Things I want to have as spares are things you should probably keep as your spares.

I need to get out and look around for a spare hub or two... injectors and fuel rail... d35 spindle nuts... etc

I'm also looking for roof rack cross bars.
