This was my spring project. I strive to build a boat each year. I think this is #7 completed. I also have a 26' wood dory (getting a 20hp Kubota diesel I attached a marine gear on) framed up in the back yard I hope to get working on soon. Anyway, this is a 13' power skiff. It's getting a 6hp Mercury 4-stroke and will live at my in-laws' lake cabin.

Very Nice! I have a 1923 wood and canvas Old Town Guide 17 that I am currently doing some cedar scabs to. I hope to have it done before summer is over so that I can put it in the lake. Good to see another boat builder.

Quick question, Did you have to replace the gunwales? If so what kind of wood?

Sorry, forgot I posted this here. Yeah, as fastpakr indicated, I built it entirely. There's a link in the original post that details it.

I don't use the term gunnel. I call it the outer and inner sheers or sheer strakes. It's Yellow Pine on this boat. The transom knees are also Y.P., as is the breasthook. The keel and the skeg are white oak. The rest is plywood--underlayment for tile floors--lots of plies and fairly solid throughout.

We launched it this weekend with a trolling motor. The outboard isn't quite ready yet. We achieved 3.8mph (statuate) with a full battery and one person in it on the 34# thrust motor. Should be about 1/3hp there so with the 6hp we'll see how much better it does.
