Never received title

It is a felony to swap Vin tags on the cab... We don't encourage/talk about how to commit felonies here.

My apologies, I wasn't suggesting anything nefarious. I recall reading that when vehicles are restored, they have some type of title designation of "rebodied" or something like that, where it is acknowledged that a different body was used. I know it varies state to state.

Assuming you get the title for the cab, just call the DMV and explain the situation to them and ask them what they want you to do, and get it in writing.

There is a process and it varies state to state... But generally you have to be able to prove you legally own both cabs.

So if you want to try that route, talk to your local dmv.

I was looking back through the responses, trying to find where someone suggested swapping VIN tags. I could not find it unless I missed it. Please quote something when making accusations. And give us a chance to learn and make it right. I have already had one of my responses in this thread deleted a little unfairly I think.

Are you going to use the VIN number off of the cab, or the VIN number off of your original truck to register the truck?

I was not making accusations or talking to anybody in particular so I did not feel the need to quote anybody. 09 was just asking a question so I posted a bumper to try to avoid any farther drift in that direction and to cast a little light on the legality of the subject.

No offense taken on my part at all. I would not agree with swapping VIN numbers for nefarious purposes. I and many others appreciate the jobs the moderators do keeping things on the up and up.
