i think im definatly going with 4.88's cause i live in a small town and dont do much freeway unless im goin to my dads or san diego

that neon would be fun if it would die...so i can drive my ranger daily instead. it doesn't sound too ricey. but it's only stock and has like 180k on it.

only thing i like about it is going around that curves that say 30 instead of 45 i do 50 around! and i like how people think they're kinda crappy cars. this one hasn't really needed anything since i started driving it( only an oil pressure valve or w/e) . i do like 30 down the back roads which gives the suspension hell and the only thing that's wrong is the rear strut tower gave out..after like 2 years of that. oh and i almost ran it out of oil and tranny fluid...filled them back up and no problems so far. pretty damn reliable if you ask me!

I have worked on some Neons before and they always struck me as being reasonably tough. OE bushings and ball joints seem to hold up as well as those of most other manufacturers, and subframes and other suspension components seem to hold up well to minor wrecks. I can't say much about the drivetrain from experience, except that it seems to last well in stock form. Should you break something in the drivetrain of your Neon Jraymer, say, as a result of going a little overboard with nitrous, there were many Neons made and many of them reside in the junkyard these days, resulting in a plethora of cheap parts being available. I say, run the piss out of it till it breaks, fix it, and do it again.

Then go with 4.88s. Coming over the pass at alpine will be much more enjoyable. Although cruising the flats there at Calixico/superstition area will be a little on the suck because you'll likely top out around 70, you will still have plenty of torque for Gordon's

I ran 37s with 4:56 and it was too tall. 35 with 4:56 was PURRRFECT. Geared my buddy's 3.0 auto on 33's to 4:56 and it was perfect. I have 4:56 with 33's now with 4L/Man and I hate driving on the freeway in the truck. at 70 I'm turning 3 grand. I don't drive 70. So on the interstate I turn 3500 at 75-80. not to mention the speedo is off by 10 mph.

If you drive on the freeway a lot, stick with 4:56. More around town, Offroad, type stuff, 4:88. JMO

I don't know what size your original tires were, but mine were 225/70 (27.4) with 3.73 gears. Stepping up to a 33" tire (actually about 32.8), 4.56 gears would be perfect.

Go with the 4.88's or 5.13's. I have stock 3.73's on 31's with a 3.0/5 spd. Absolutely gutless. I would love to regear it to 4.56. Then again, my truck gets the best gas mileage turning 2800-3000 rpm on the highway. If I was running 33's, I would want 4.88's without a doubt. So with a 4 cyl, I would definitely want at least 4.88's.

well im getting a 4.56 28 spline 8.8 rear end this monday. only reason is cause its only 350 bux for everything and i blew up my 7.5 FINALLY

haha yea the 7.5 didnt like going 60 through the desert haha i demolished the spider gears and the ring gear isnt in the greatest shape either.

my parents wanted me to fix it and i jus told them that it just wasnt worth fixing and might as well upgrade with differnt gearing for 33's while im at it haha
